Dear Phil,
How do you do it? How do you keep so extremely productive during the day with so little sleep? The reason I ask this question is because for the last two years or so I have been so busy that I only have time to sleep like 4-5 hours a day. Now, I don't have any trouble waking up. As the matter of fact its the complete opposite, every time my alarm clock goes of I'm like; LETS GO !!! But the problem comes during the day when I just feel extremely exhausted, like I can just fall asleep anywhere (one day I fell asleep while I was at the barbershop getting a haircut, so I think it's safe to say that I was extremely tired) Because of this I'm having a hard time being productive at work and at home and when I try to do some homework I just fall asleep, not because it's boring or I'm not motivated enough, I'm just extremely tired.
I have tried to just simply get more sleep in but I really don't have the time for it because you know... I've got goals to accomplish. I initially thought that I was just tired because I wasn't getting enough food in (because food equals energy right?) but no, I currently eat between 5500-6000 kcal a day and it doesn't make me feel more awake or focused. I know it's a lot of calories for a 190 lbs guy like myself but I also burn a lot of energy with the work that I do and although I'm making more gains than ever I'm still constantly tired.
Since about a year I also take ZMA supplements including Resurrect P.M. from the Ronnie Coleman series, this helped a bit but not as much as I hoped. I eat a lot of vitamins, drink a lot of water and I have got the day planned out by the minute so that I spend the time that I have as efficient as possible.
Now, I don't want to work a little less or train a little shorter or whatever because I'm starting to notice that my hard work is finally paying off and this motivation me to work even harder. I want to do more every day than the day before but I feel like my tired mind is dragging me back. My body however doesn't feel tired, I train sevens days a week for around 2 hours and I don't feel like my body isn't recovering enough, but that's probably because I eat so much for my body weight.
I go to school in the weekend and I usually sip on a pre-workout drink (or two) during class to keep me awake and focused. I know this is not the healthiest option but it's the only thing that seems to work (or at least for a couple of hours).
I wonder how successful people like yourself and Dwayne Johnson, Mike Rashid etc. can be so productive and stay so active during the day when you guy's have so little time to sleep with all the business you run and all the traveling. How do you do it ?
Thanks,
